10-10-10 Destination Wedding at Hamilton Cove, Catalina Isand – Shirley and Jay
The adventure with Shirley and Jay started earlier this year when Shirley contacted me wanting to do some edgy/editorial style engagement photos. After throwing around ideas we settled on the Salton Sea for their engagement shoot. Shirley and Jay drove all the way out from Arizona and braved the intense heat out in one of California’s most desolate and dilapidated locations for a day of crazy fun and stunning photos! It was fun to get to play around with the location, light, clothes, but most of all – Shirley and Jay. They were both excited to try different things and get out of the box and they definitely came prepared! We were there for a good 5-6 hours and we barely touched their wardrobe options! We had a total blast that day in spite of the heat and the bugs and throughout the day I feel like I really got to know these amazing people. So jump ahead now to their destination wedding at the Hamilton Cove on Catalina Island and as you can imagine, it was another amazing, beautiful, and dare I say, epic day! Not to mention they were married on a pretty amazing date: 10-10-10!! The fog was just starting to dissipate for the ceremony and some of the earlier portraits making for an almost surreal and dreamy feel that I loved. The ceremony was a beautiful and intimate gathering of their family and closest friends set right on the coast followed by a small reception held at the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Gardens just up the hill. This was a fantastic location with a view and an amazing stone tower at the top of the hill where we got some fun shots. Oh and all of the details from the day were hand made/crafted/designed by the bride herself! All in all I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Shirley and Jay and I feel honored to have worked with such an amazing, kind, funny, caring, and encouraging couple. I wish the all the best and much love and success!

Hamilton Cove, Catalina Island – Parisa and Ali Valentine’s Day Wedding
I shot Parisa and Ali’s Engagement photos last year and they were awesome! They wanted to do a fun shoot that was reminiscent of the old Hollywood days and we had a ton of fun playing around in Pasadena with that shoot. So when they asked me if I wanted to be a part of their wedding I knew it was going to be a fun experience. I was right! Their wedding was held in Hamilton Cove on Catalina Island and they only had 15 people attending the wedding, but I have to say that it was one of the most fun weddings I have been too and absolutely beautiful! Not to mention the fact that the wedding was on Valentine’s Day! Gonna be hard to forget that anniversay.
All of their family and friends were extremely fun and full of energy and you could really feel how much love they all have for each other. Catalina is amazing and my wife and I actually headed out to the Island 2 days prior to celebrate Valnetine’s day and we had such a blast exploring and sight seeing. But nothing prepared us for the sights at Hamilton Cove! They had an amazing wedding coordinator who was extremely helpful and even gave my wife and I a bunch of great suggestions for our stay on the Isalnd. Her name is Cathy Machado and I highly recommend her and An Event Two Be… I am still busting through the photos but here is what I have so far. Enjoy!
