Been shooting on an old Twin Lens Reflex film camera lately and I had a couple shots left on a roll before processing the images so I thought I would snap a couple right where I was. Glad I did.

Man what a fun day this was! Got to spend some time with Brannon and Darlene (one amazingly cool couple), got to play with some amazing light, tons of color, and to top it all off we ended the day over some of the best sushi I’ve had in awhile (Hama Sushi in little Tokyo). Good call Darlene! I think what really stood out to me is that these two kinda really like each other. A lot. I think it’s awesome to not just be in love, but to also be in deep like. To truly enjoy the one your with. I think their shared passion for life and ability to make each other laugh plays a huge part in that. But alas, don’t take my word for it, have a look for yourself:
In the wake of losing my amazing Grandma a few weeks back we decided a day near the water with family was what everyone needed. A breath of fresh air. I brought along a film camera to capture a bit of the day together. Something about the raw feeling of old school black and white film really seemed to encapsulate the mood of the day as we shared our fondest memories and stories with each other. Strange how even the hardest of times can still be beautiful in their own way. Thank you to my family and friends for being such a great rock and thank you to my dearest Grandma whom we affectionately called “Mother One”. She truly opened my eyes and instilled an insatiable sense of wonder, awe, and inquisitiveness about the the beauty of the world around me.
This was a fantastic backyard portrait session just above the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Most of the Ziomek family was in town visiting from the Midwest so it was great to be with them as they visited with each other and enjoyed the sunny California weather. They were such a pleasure to work with and their kids were to die for. Absolutely adorable. Enjoy!
Bubbles, Cameras, Kites, Color, and ton’s of Love. It’s hard to go wrong with that combo. I absolutely loved this session and I am excited to get to work with Kevin and Yi’s again at their wedding this summer at the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Tis the season for Spring Portraits, and they are in full swing! We headed into the endlessly versatile Arroyo Seco park with the Oh Family for some great natural environment and soft warm light. They said this was their first time doing a family portrait altogether, but it felt like they had been doing this for years! Although to anyone passing by we might have looked a little crazy at times as we cooed and mooed to get baby Henry’s attention, but he was adorable so it was well worth it. In fact all of their kids were to die for! They were like little models. So thanks to the Oh family for an amazing session and for making this so much fun.
One of the greatest perks about my job is getting to work with amazing, beautiful, and inspiring people. Every now and then they are even people you know, as was the case in this session. I went to school with Babs and Emma and it has been so much fun to watch their family grow and blossom – first with their beautiful daughter Timi, and now with their most recent addition Dayo. They are such a fun and loving family and I am excited to watch as they embrace the adventure life has to offer them. Congrats you guys and thanks for allowing me to grab a few snapshots of your life.
This was a visually saturated session with tons of color and fantastic light featuring the stylish streets of the Abbot Kinney district in Venice Beach, the Canals, and some good ol’ classic California shorelines. Alyssa and Jesse really wanted to do a session that not only captured who they are as a couple, but a session that also embodied what they love about where they live. And in their case I think that where they have chosen to live says a lot about who they are as well. Full of life, style, color, and love, these two go hand in hand with each other and their environment.
Kelly and Jonathan = One awesome couple with a vintage flare.
These two came ready to rock! And rock they did. We pooled our prop resources and pulled out all the stops to give their Sweetheart Session a classic feel. Between the old school camera’s, vintage attire, the Mission’s ruins, and the rustic suitcase, this session has the air of a classic Hollywood couple out sightseeing for the day.
