Got to spend an afternoon with these two lovebirds. We started things out at the Disney Concert Hall, which seems to offer an endlessly interesting backdrop (plus I got to use my new Prism so I was happy), before heading off to the Santa Monica Pier to find some glorious light beaming through the pier’s pillars. Beautiful settings and fantastic light were all overshadowed by Molly & Johnny who seemed so natural and comfortable in front of the lens, despite their fears that they would not be. Every time I looked away to change a lens they would simply resume flirting and cuddling spontaneously, so my only challenge was to begin shooting again before they noticed. I’d say the fact that they couldn’t keep their hands off each other says a little something, don’t you think? Thanks Molly & Johnny for one truly fun and beautiful day. I cannot wait to photography your wedding at the Smog Shoppe!
I swore I’d never act again. I swore I’d never put my baby in a commercial. I lied.
Check out this hilarious Doritos commercial my son and I were asked to be in. Such a fun day hanging out with incredibly talented people. Congrats to my buddy Marc Ritzema for dreaming up this idea and executing the production with style.

I couldn’t help but post a ton from this wedding. Their day had all of the best ingredients for a beautiful wedding – the location (Orcutt Ranch is awesome!!), great light, great stories, lots of emotion (in a good way), awesome details, great food, awesome music – but my absolute favorite thing about this day was spending time with Joel & Caitlyn. These two are a perfect match. If their absolute adoration for each other wasn’t enough, their infectious laughter and humor made me want to be around them all the time. I dare you not to smile while looking through their pics. The post ceremony portraits still have me smiling especially.
The longer I live here the more I fall in love with this city. Such a vast array of things to be explored, amazing light year round, and some of the best people you will ever meet. This session was the perfect combination of everything of all these things. Anthony & Yvette nailed this session and I had so much fun spending the day with them capturing some awesome moments and some fun portraits. They made my day by exploring the city with me and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding! I especially love the Angel Wings found at Angel City Brewery. Gonna add some more soon, but couldn’t help but to share these for now. Enjoy.
I knew after Mark & Brianne’s engagement session (see those pics here) that their wedding was going to be one beautifully fun day packed with laughs, lots of PDA (wink wink), and awesome details. I was right. Plus Levyland Estates was such a beautiful and fun departure from some of the more traditional venues. was Congrats you guys! I have had so much fun being part of your creative team and I wish you both a life filled with daily reminders of just how much you love and cherish each other. Thanks for being so much fun! You guys rock!
Dirt, rocks, an old couch, and a stunning couple make for one heck of a session. I love the stylishly romantic feeling these of this shoot. Not to mention the amazing light we found out at Vasquez Rocks (so glad we decided to get out cloudy Pasadena that day!). Derek & Tatiana thanks for making this one classy, stylish, and beautiful session. You guys have such a naturally beautiful and romantic love for each other and I can’t wait for your wedding!
